[本文より]「Another birthday coming soon; the years are flying by. The mirror gives no reprieve from the wrinkles that creep in to mark my steadily advancing age. But even more shocking to me is to notice how rapidly my parents seem to be aging. It's partly a problem of my perception of them; I acknowledge that I hold certain images of my parents in my mind, wanting to capture and freeze them at a particular age and character that matches my most pleasant memories. Yet the reality is that they are changing and aging so quickly; requiring that I consciously adjust my mental image nearly every time I see them.
