(本文より)To all outward appearances, life goes on as normal in the United States this May…people are preparing for school graduations, buying the usual spring gardening supplies, and commuting to work. Yet I can feel an undercurrent of turmoil. People are upset, unsettled, and uneasy. Everyone is sick of watching Iraqi war coverage on TV, yet they can't turn the images inside their heads off. Brave photos of 20-year old soldiers, now dead. Faces of gleeful Baghdad looters carting off couches in dilapidated trucks. Is this what the US went in to liberate? Was it worth it? Can we just get back to making our own economy better now? We just want security in our jobs, our homes, our dreams for the future.
